Picosecond Lasers

What is a Picosecond Laser?

Picosecond lasers are one of the most diverse categories of pulsed lasers available on the market today since picosecond pulses (10-12s) can be generated by q-switching, gain switching, and mode locking. Picosecond pulses can be produced from diode-pumped solid-state (DPSS) lasers, fiber lasers, and microchip lasers allowing for an extensive wavelength range from the ultraviolet through the infrared region.

Additionally, this broad range of lasers enables pulse energies in the nJ, µJ, and mJ levels with pulse repetition rates varying from Hz to MHz.  The high peak power and short pulse widths (pulse duration) of these lasers are ideal for a wide range of applications especially for material processing and micromachining industrial applications such as laser texturing, trimming, and drilling.

Our Picosecond Products

Nps-1064-10

The new, ultrafast NPS Series features up to 10W average output power, <7ps pulse width, and a 40MHz repetition rate. The transform-limited operation, with a spectral width of < 0.3nm, and remarkably accurate central wavelength (1064.3 +/- 0.1nm) make the NPS Series a suitable candidate for highly efficient amplification by Nd-doped DPSS amplifiers. Therefore, opening the way to nonlinear optics applications like OPO pumping, and narrowband Raman Spectroscopy.

Microchip Series

Bright Microlaser Microchip SB1 Laser

The Microchip Series, from BrightMicroLaser, are ultra-compact, passively q-switched, single longitudinal mode (SLM), narrow linewidth, DPSS lasers that feature pulse durations from 350 ps to 3 ns, energy levels up to 100 uJ and repetition rates up to 100 kHz. In addition to the fundamental 1064 nm wavelength and its harmonics (532, 355 and 266 nm), we also deliver units emitting at 946 and 473 nm.

Sirius Series

Sirius-532: Picosecond DPSS lasers

SIRIUS is a very compact, high energy hybrid ultrafast laser for advanced micro-machining applications and supercontinuum pumping, offering over 120µJ and > 5 W, with pulses below 10 ps from single shot to 1MHz and an M² of < 1.2. This laser series specifically designed to allow for ergonomic and user-friendly operation. SIRIUS is ideally suited for selective ablation, electronics, and photonic applications.

VaryDisk Series

VaryDisk E150The VaryDisk Series platform is a high energy, multi-milli-Joule laser system for laboratory investigations or industrial use. This is a thin disk regenerative amplifier for amplification of femtosecond, picosecond or nanosecond pulses with amplification factors in the order of 10⁶. The output specifications can be chosen according to our customers needs, mainly by choice of the seed laser (multiple seed lasers are possible) and various options available. The base configuration typically provides up to 150 W average power @ 1030 nm, 15 – 150 mJ pulse energy with 1 ns pulse width (compressible to < 2 ps), and a repetition rate range from 1 kHz to 10 kHz.

Vento Series

Vento-532-7: 532nm Picosecond DPSS Laser

The Vento Series of sub-ns DPSS active Q-Switched lasers produce pulses in the hundreds of ps range with average power up to 50 W @ 532 nm and up to 100 W @ 1064 nm. Ideal for micromachining, fine cutting and precision LIDAR, all the models are enclosed in an extremely compact and ruggedized single unit with both air-cooled and water-cooled options available.

Wedge Series

Wedge-XF-1064: 1064nm Picosecond Laser

The Wedge series of DPSS Lasers have been designed for OEM applications like micro machining of hard and soft materials, specialty marking, glass and crystals engraving, LIDAR, LIBS, Spectroscopy and medical diagnostics. High peak powers, with relatively low energy and heat generation, allows efficient ablation and non-linear interaction with most materials. The compact and lightweight package represents a great benefit in LIDAR and other aerospace applications, while short pulses give extremely precise time-of-flight measurements.
Second Harmonic (532 nm output) and wavelength conversion option widen the product application range.
